Star Wars Day
By: Dr. Digital Philosophy
May the 4th, 2022 and today is Star Wars Day. I can remember the first time I sat down and watched the whole Star Wars Series from Episode One to Episode Six. The first time I watched Star Wars, I was going to school in Nova Scotia, Canada. Back then I was studying Pharmacy but that’s a story for another day.
I ended up becoming friends with a guy in my class and he was a nice guy. He would pick me up in the morning and give me a ride to school; making sure my seat was always warm. I’ll never forget it as long as I live since he was a very nice guy.
Anyway, one night after being out partying for a few days, I decided to go to my buddy’s place and relax. This was the friend who was in my class by the way and gave me a ride to school every morning. I was hung over, sick and not feeling the best at the time.
When I got to his place, he and his wife was there watching TV. This guy was in his 40’s and I was about 18 so they were like my family away from home. I would usually go to his place for supper and my buddy was a cook on the Navy ships, so he knew how to cook.

Anyway after getting settled in and relaxing for a bit, my buddy decided to watch Star Wars. At that time in my life I never seen Star Wars before. My friend was surprised at this; shocked even.
That night we ended up watching the first three parts to Star Wars and it was amazing. I was going through some rough stuff at that time and was more worried about girls back then. I would usually end up getting around but this led to a lot of heart break over time and when I broke down, I had a place to go and clear my head.
Star Wars made me realise something that night and maybe it was the need in me but I remembered how I took interest in many things when I was younger. Over time I ended up doing some great things but usually did them for the wrong reasons. Back then my ego was a little too much for even me to handle today. It was a different time in my life and one I lived through learning many new things throughout the course of that time.

Today Star Wars is a movie that gives me hope for tomorrow and remind me no matter how serious life gets, have a little hope. Today, it seems we could all use some hope after all. Why not try watching Star Wars and see a small rebellion take out a galactic federation in one of the greatest movies ever made.
